Boarding 101

Are you packing and preparing for your dog or cat to stay at our facility? If you have any questions or concerns about their stay, we are here to help! Check out our boarding 101 information below:

Before You Board

Our busiest boarding times are around the holidays, throughout the summer, and when your children are off from school.

Boarding Requirements

All animals boarding at Country Acres must be in good health and have proof of current vaccinations. Please have your veterinarian email your pet’s vaccination records to us prior to the requested reservation date.

We require the following vaccinations for boarding dogs and cats:

  • Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, & Bordetella. Canine Flu Vaccination is currently recommended but not required, due to current vaccine shortages

  • Cats: Distemper and Rabies

* Bordetella (Kennel Cough) – We require this vaccination for dogs annually. Once your pet receives this vaccination, there is a 7 day waiting period. Your pet can visit with us on the 7th day. Proof of vaccination is due one week prior to your pet's reservation.

If the above vaccinations are not current, we cannot board your pet.

When You Board

Here are the things you need to know about boarding your pet at Country Acres:

  • Payment: The charge begins the day your pet is brought to Country Acres, regardless of the time. If you pick your pet up before 10:00am, you are not charged for that day.

  • Vaccinations: We must have current copies of your pet’s vaccination records, as well as written instructions about food and medications, prior to booking your reservation.

  • Contact Information: You must leave a cell phone number as well as an emergency contact.

  • Health Concerns: Tell us about any health concerns or issues your pet has. Whether your four-legged friend trembles during thunderstorms, your cat has allergies, or anything in between, be sure we know so your pet has the best stay possible.

  • Drop-off: When you drop your four-legged friend off, it is best to leave them with a quick goodbye inside our office. It’s less stressful for your pet, as well as for you, to leave with the knowledge that we will give your dog or cat loving care until your return.

Feeding

In order to keep your pets digestive tract as regular as possible during our stay, we prefer you provide your pets food from home. Please be sure to package food by meal if possible. If needed, we do offer high quality adult pet food for $2.95 per meal. We provide bowls for food and water. Our team also provides every animal Milk-Bone cookies throughout the day.

After Your Board

When you get home, limit your pet’s access to food and water for 2 to 3 hours until they settle down. When they stay at Country Acres, they have daily feedings and unlimited access to water, but sometimes your pet will eat or drink to excess when they first get home. They’re excited to see you again, and that excitement can upset their digestive system; they’ll likely need a day or two to “rest up” from their own vacation at Country Acres.
